Will Arsenal take the Europa League seriously?
Following Thursday night’s round of 16 play-offs, the draw for the round of 16 took place on Friday. Manchester United, who defeated Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate, will face Real Betis.
Betis currently sit fifth in the La Liga table but ten Hag’s United have shown how strong they are in every competition they have been a part of this season.
Premier League leaders Arsenal will face Sporting Lisbon, after sitting out the playoffs for the round due to them being first in their group. The bad news for the Gunners is that Sporting have progressed from every tie they’ve had against English teams in European competitions so far.
Two Serie A giants remain in the competition as well, Roma and Juventus. While Mourinho’s Roma will face Real Sociedad, Juventus takes on Freiburg. Roma will be facing to add to their European trophies after last season’s Conference League title.
Europa League’s last 16 round will take place on March 9, with the second leg a week after that.
