Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar believes that everyone respects his side after a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
After mounting a spectacular late comeback in the first leg of their quarter-final tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Sevilla now have a strong chance of progressing to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Sevilla who were underdogs, faced a tough match against Red Devils who had several injured players for the match. In the first half, the game went as expected. Marcel Sabitzer scored twice in seven minutes, putting the hosts in a commanding lead.
Two own goals made the draw for Sevilla against Man United
However, two own goals near the end of the game by Malacia and Maguire leveled the play. The return leg will be held at Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and Sevilla’s chance for promoting has increased.
Jose Luis Mendilibar told Movistar+: “The first half hour was a tough period, but then we recomposed ourselves. We didn’t throw the game away and we never gave up. Everyone respects Sevilla in this competition.”
Having won the Europa League six times, Sevilla is the most successful side in the competition’s history.
Despite their disappointing domestic form, they are confident of winning the title for the seventh time this season.
