Allegri revels in the ‘perfect day’ for Juventus as they make Europa League semi-final

Allegri expressed his delight at the club’s recent success, describing it as a “wonderful day” following their 15 Serie A points return and their progress to the Europa League semi-finals with a victory over Sporting CP.

Max Allegri expressed his delight with Juventus’ success on a “wonderful day” where they won back 15 Serie A points and progressed to the Europa League semi-finals by defeating Sporting CP. The coach also admitted that he was anticipating a clash with Sevilla in the next round.

Juventus had a slim 1-0 lead from the first leg and managed to extend it with an early goal from Adrien Rabiot in Lisbon. However, Rabiot conceded a penalty which Marcus Edwards converted to level the score on the night. Despite this, Juventus managed to hold on and progress to the Europa League semi-final with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Allegri: ‘it’s a wonderful day’

“It’s a wonderful day,” smiled Allegri on Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a good performance, especially in the second half, but we must do better in our finishing. The lads behaved well and we were a little bit lucky too.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding another Federal Court of Appeal hearing, Juventus received positive news as the verdict restored their 15-point penalty in Serie A. This news came at the same time as Juventus’ successful Europa League quarter-final, adding to the already positive start for the team. However, it is still unclear when the Federal Court of Appeal hearing will take place.

“This is a day where we get 15 points returned, now we need to dive back into Serie A, as we lost points too often recently. We must consolidate our position in the top four.”

They will face Sevilla in the semi-final, who just demolished Manchester United 3-0 this evening, 5-3 on aggregate.

“I expected it to be Sevilla, as they are a tough side and have won many Europa League trophies already.”
