Everton star Finnigan confesses that she still watches her derby goal

With her scoring in Everton’ victory at Merseyside Derby, Megan Finnigan says she still can’t shake the feeling off

Megan Finnigan is still excited about her goal in Everton’s Merseyside Derby win and even watches the goal from time to time.

Everton comfortably dispatched Liverpool 3-0 in the Merseyside Derby in September. One of the goalscorers was Megan Finnigan who has expressed how much of a joy it was to score in the match. Finnigan spoke to Everton’s official website ahead of the Merseyside Derby on March 26.

“It meant so much,” she told evertonfc.com.

“There was so much going into it. The last time we won at Anfield, I didn’t manage to get onto the pitch, so I had an extra incentive to smash it this time round.

“My whole family was there; it was an amazing feeling. I’m not going to lie; I still watch the goal back every now and again.

“I had also missed the first game of the season through injury against West Ham, so it was kind of my season starter, and I started it quite well!

“My whole family was there; it was an amazing feeling. I’m not going to lie; I still watch the goal back every now and again. Not too much though!

“It was an amazing feeling, and we can’t wait for the reverse fixture at Goodison, so bring it on.”

Finnigan told the Toffees fans to buy ticket and make a memorable derby atmosphere.

“It would be amazing to break our attendance record,” she added.

“The game at Anfield, I felt the occasion might have got to Liverpool a little bit more than it did us, so they’ll be coming to Goodison with a point to prove but it makes for an even juicer fixture.

“Hopefully we can get as many fans as possible there and make it a really good day for Evertonians.”

Finnigan has helped Everton keep 5 clean sheets so far this season and is one of the main players for manager Brian Sorensen.

“We’re in a good place as a team for where we want to be right now,” Finnigan said.

“We’re happy and on the right path. Personally, I feel like I’m having a good season in terms of consistency, playing in different formations and positions. I feel that I maintain a level of consistency in my performances which I’m happy with.

“Of course, there’s always improvements to be made but right now I feel I’m doing good.”
