Women’s Ballon d’Or nominees announced: Bonmati clear favorite as Putellas miss out

The nominees for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or have been announced, with Aitana Bonmati the hot favorite to win the prize.

France Football magazine announced the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or nominees on Wednesday. The winner will be revealed in a ceremony at the Chateli Theater in Paris on October 30.

Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati is the favorite to win the Women’s Ballon d’Or this year. She won the domestic title, the Champions League, and also the World Cup with Spain.

Two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, who struggled with injuries in 2023, has been left out of the shortlist.

England quartet Millie Bright, Rachel Daly, Mary Earps and Georgia Stanway are among the nominees for the women’s Ballon d’Or.

United States women’s national team player Sophia Smith is the only American on the shortlist.
