Following the sacking of Corinne Diacre as Les Bleus manager, captain Wendie Renard has expressed her wishes to return to international duties
France’s captain, Wendie Renard, is ready to make a comeback to international football after being part of a player rebellion that resulted in the dismissal of head coach Corinne Diacre.
Renard loves to lay for France again
Renard had previously announced that she would not participate in the World Cup this year under Diacre’s leadership. This decision was also supported by forwards Kadidiatou Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto. Diacre accused the players of being involved in “a destabilization operation.”
But after the French Football Federation (FFF) held a meeting of its executive committee, she was removed from her position.
“It’s the coach who will select me if I perform well with my club. But why not?” she told radio station Europe 1.
“I am a competitor at heart. I love this jersey and I want to do everything to win a title with it.”.
Although the FFF decided to terminate Diacre’s contract, they condemned the way the players handled the situation, stating that it was no longer acceptable to express their criticisms through a boycott in the future.
