Arsenal star Beth Mead joyous following a triumphant return from an ACL injury

Arsenal star Beth Mead expressed her joy at returning to the starting lineup for the Gunners after recovering from a significant ACL injury.

Beth Mead played just over an hour in Arsenal’s 3-1 League Cup victory against Bristol City, marking her first start since November of the previous year.

The match was another crucial step in Beth Mead’s recovery from the injury, which sidelined her for 11 months and led to her missing the World Cup this summer in Australia and New Zealand.

Mead shared her delight after the game, discussing her previous role as a substitute and her gradual return to match fitness.

It’s been about knowing what I can get out of the games,” Mead told Arseblog. “That I can come on and what I can give and bring a little bit of quality. When you come on you have to try to re-energise the girls.

“You can do all the training and straight line running in the world off the pitch where nobody sees it but when you come on in matches it’s a very, very different type of fitness. I think I have coped so far, not needed oxygen at any point!”

Beth Mead’s much-anticipated return has aligned with an improvement in form for Arsenal following a somewhat shaky start to the season. The Lionesses star played a key role in a comeback victory over Aston Villa when coming off the bench in her first appearance after recovering from injury, and since then, Arsenal’s performance has been on an upward trajectory.
