Gisele Thompson, the promising teenage star and sister of U.S. women’s national team winger Alyssa, has officially joined Angel City FC.
The US defender Gisele Thompson has signed a contract with the team through the 2025 season, with an option for 2026. Prior to deciding to turn professional, Thompson, currently a senior at Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, CA, had committed to Stanford University.
Despite recently turning 18, she has already made significant contributions to U.S. youth teams, earning a bronze medal at the Pan American Games and representing the U.S. up to the U-20 level.
Gisele Thompson, following in the footsteps of her older sister Alyssa, has been recognized as one of the top prospects in American soccer. Notably, the siblings were the first high school athletes to secure Name, Image, and Likeness contracts with Nike.
They played together until Alyssa’s selection as the first overall pick by Angel City, achieving success in various competitions, including a state regional championship and a United Women’s Soccer semi-pro championship.
Gisele Thompson want to contribute to Angel City’s growth
Gisele Thompson’s potential extends to the international stage, where many foresee her becoming a key fullback for the senior U.S. women’s national team in the future.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Angel City to take this next step in my soccer career,” said Thompson. “It’s such a great organization with an awesome fan base. Being from Los Angeles, I’m really looking forward to trying to bring a championship to my hometown. Having been able to watch Alyssa’s pro transition this past year, I’ve been able to really see what it takes to succeed at that level. I’m confident I can come in and contribute, and am also excited for all the growth and learnings ahead.”
“Gisele is an incredibly exciting player with endless potential,” added Angel City General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “The opportunity to discover and develop talent from our own backyard is really important to us, and Gisele’s success on the field in her youth career speaks for itself. While she will be joining her sister on our squad, Gisele will no doubt make her own impact on our environment and among the team.”
