Beth Mead sends a heartfelt message to Mary Earps

Beth Mead sent a warm message to her Lionesses teammate Mary Earps, who won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Earps earned the award for her crucial role in the Lionesses’ journey to the Women’s World Cup final against Spain. Despite the loss, her penalty save stood out. Winning over cricketer Stuart Broad, she received congratulations from Arsenal forward Mead:

“My hero!!!!! SPOTY 2023 winner Mary Earps.”

Earps clinched the Golden Glove for her stellar World Cup displays with England. She also secured titles like SJA Sportswoman of the Year, BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year, and Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year, marking a series of accolades for her outstanding performances.

Post Women’s World Cup, Earps influenced a notable change from Nike, who initially refused to sell replicas of her goalkeeper shirt. Following widespread criticism and Earps’ involvement, Nike released multiple batches of the jersey, all quickly selling out.

Mary Earps will be back in action after the holiday break in the new year. She and Manchester United are set to play their first game against Newcastle United in the FA Women’s Cup on January 14.
