Tierna Davidson explained her decision-making process in selecting Gotham FC over other NWSL teams during free agency.
The USWNT star Tierna Davidson, alongside newly-signed Crystal Dunn, appeared on CBS Mornings to talk about her transition from Chicago to New York and various other topics. Davidson explained that factors such as the Gotham FC staff, team culture, and their recent championship victory played a significant role in her choice.
“It feels great. You know this period of free agency and looking at different teams was really important and I took my time with it. But you know, Gotham FC really boasts an incredible style of soccer, a really exciting style of play. Their staff has implemented it so well. And you know, the team culture seems quite strong and the team chemistry is clearly there. So I’m really excited to be joining this team.”
By bringing in Davidson, Gotham FC secured a replacement for Ali Krieger and simultaneously strengthened their team.
This mutually beneficial move positions both parties for success, bettering the NY/NJ side to one of the top contenders for the 2024 NWSL title. Additionally, the transfer of Crystal Dunn further adds to their positive developments.
The 25-year-old World Cup champion Tierna Davidson will now commence her collaboration with the new teammates and staff as the NWSL preseason is scheduled to commence in the upcoming weeks. Manager Juan Carlos Amoros will promptly begin imparting his values, tactics, and plans with Davidson, recognizing her as a crucial component of the team’s overall strategy.
