The Washington Spirit has officially announced the signing of former Chicago Red Stars defender Casey Krueger.
United States women’s national team veteran Casey Krueger has signed a three-year deal with the Washington Spirit, as confirmed by the NWSL side on Wednesday. Krueger, who became a free agent at the end of the MLS 2023 season, had previously spent eight seasons with the Chicago Red Stars.
Following her signing with the Washington Spirit, the 33-year-old shared her thoughts with the club’s official website:

I look forward to continuing my growth as a player in the Nation’s Capital and helping the team accomplish even more success.”
Casey Krueger, the former Chicago Red Stars defender, made her debut for the USWNT in 2016 and has accumulated 42 international caps in her career. In July 2020, she got engaged to her long-term partner Cody Krueger, and the couple got married later in December. In July 2022, they welcomed their first child.
The upcoming NWSL season will feature expansion with the addition of two new teams, Utah Royals and Bay FC. The 2024 campaign will begin on March 16.
