Chelsea 3-1 Manchester United: James hat-trick sends Blues to top of WSL

Chelsea moved three points clear at the top of the Women’s Super League after beating Manchester United thanks to Lauren James’ hat-trick.

Chelsea restore their three-point lead at the top of the WSL after a 3-1 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Lauren James scored all three goals as the Blues did not felt Sam Kerr’s absence after her ACL injury.

Manchester United remain in fourth place, four points behind the top three. Chelsea is at the top with 28 points after 11 matches.

Emma Hayes’ side took the lead in the 5th minute after a well-worked team goal. After a brilliantly worked team worked between Guro Reiten and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, James slotted home past Earps.

The former Red Devil star Lauren James doubled Chelsea lead in the 23rd minute after new signing Nathalie Bjorn found her with a lovely ball over the top. Hayley Ladd pulled one goal back for Manchester United just before half-time.

James completed her hat-trick in the 85th minute when she beat keeper Mary Earps one on one.
