Taylor Kornieck leaves San Diego Wave to join Racing Louisville

Taylor Kornieck, star midfielder from the US women’s national team, moved from San Diego Wave to Racing Louisville.

On Monday morning, a major trade in the WSL was revealed: Racing gave $150,000 to the Wave for midfielder Taylor Kornieck, now Taylor Flint. She, with 12 USWNT caps, was the third pick in the 2020 NWSL Superdraft.

Taylor Kornieck said on the move: “I’m super excited to have a chance to represent this organization. New beginnings are usually tough, but if the amount of support I have already received says anything about the future, this is going to be a special place.”

In two seasons with the Wave, Kornieck, the tallest USWNT player ever at 6 feet 1 inch, scored six goals and provided four assists in 45 games. She showcased versatility, becoming a standout midfielder. Her last national team appearance was in February 2023, following her international debut in 2022.

NWSL preseason is about to start. Commissioner Jessica Berman announced the 2024 season kicks off with Wave vs. Gotham FC on March 15. Racing’s schedule isn’t out, but their campaign plans are firm.
