Manchester City signed Laura Blindkilde Brown from Aston Villa. She agreed to a three-and-a-half year contract as a midfielder.
The 20-year-old Laura Blindkilde Brown has joined Cityzens for about £200,000, nearing the British record of £250,000 paid by Tottenham for Beth England. Blindkilde Brown, a key player in Carla Ward’s Villa side since her debut in 2021, has made 50 appearances and earned the club’s Player of the Year for two seasons.
City secures promising talent Blindkilde Brown from the WSL. Besides club success, she played with Lionesses’ Under-19, joining City with Pritchard and O’Hanlon from Durham. City beat competition from Brighton and Manchester United for O’Hanlon.
Laura Blindkilde Brown said about the move: “I’m really excited to be here. It’s a big step in my career but I’m really excited to see what comes. It’s a new challenge for me. Obviously, I’ve been at Villa a lot of my career but it’s something new and I’ll be training with some of the best players in the world. I think the style of play here is really suited to me. Hopefully it just develops me even more in my career.”
Gareth Taylor aims for Laura Blindkilde Brown to enhance City’s quality in their quest for silverware. They’re three points behind Chelsea in the WSL, playing Leicester next on Sunday.
