Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola does not expect another comfortable win against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals in Tuesday’s first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Defending champions Man City eliminated Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the semi-final last season with a 5-1 win on aggregate. Guardiola’s side won the second leg against Real Madrid with four goals at the Etihad.
In his press conference on Monday, Guardiola was asked whether he expects another dominant win against the Spanish giants.
“It is very difficult for the same thing to happen again,” Guardiola told reporters.
“Beating Real Madrid twice in a row is impossible. They have learned and will want revenge. They have pride.
“Expect different games in the same game. They will be able to press high, so aggressive. They are so dangerous … everybody knows the strength or the transitions that they have.
“It’s a classic between the two teams in recent years. The matches at the Santiago Bernabéu are long and we expect different parts of the same game.
“At the same time, you can’t come here just to control the game. You have to try to hurt them, to punch them, to let them feel we are here to score a goal … we feel strong. We are incredibly confident.”
Man City will be without defenders Nathan Ake and Kyle Walker, who have been ruled out due to injuries.
