The German Football Federation wants to offer a new deal to coach Julian Nagelsmann before the Euro 2024.
The 36-year-old Nagelsmann replaced Hansi Flick as Germany’s coach on a short-term deal last September. Nagelsmann’s current deal is set to expire after Euro 2024, and he has been linked with clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United.
After a 2-0 win over France in their international friendly on Saturday, the German Football Federation president Bernd Neuendorf revealed they hope to extend Nagelsmann’s contract beyond the Euro 2024.
Neuendorf told ZDF: “It would be absolutely desirable from our side (to extend Nagelsmann’s contract). We’re a good team, we get on well, we’re in intensive dialogue.”
The former Bayern Munich manager has hinted that he is open to signing a contract extension before the start of Euro 2024.
Nagelsmann told reporters earlier this month: “If I have a contract offer before the European Championship that I am happy with and where I say I feel comfortable and where I see myself, then there is a high probability that I will sign it before the European Championship.”
Germany will face the Netherlands in another friendly match on Tuesday. Euro 2024 hosts Germany will face Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland in Group A.
