Germany signs shirt deal with Nike after 70-year Adidas partnership

The German football federation has signed a deal with American sportswear giant Nike after ending their iconic partnership with Adidas.

The German Football Association (DFB) shocked their fans after they announced an agreement with Nike on Thursday. Nike will supply all of Germany’s national teams with their apparel and equipment from 2027 until at least 2034.

This means that Germany’s iconic relationship with Adidas ends after over 70 years in 2027. Adidas has been the kit provider for the German national team since 1954. German teams wore Adidas shirts for all four of the men’s World Cup titles, their three European titles, and the women’s two World Cup and eight European titles.

Adidas said in a brief statement: “We were informed by the DFB today that the association will have a new supplier from 2027.”

Germany players are set to wear Adidas shirts at Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.

“We’re looking forward to working with Nike and the trust they’ve placed in us.” federation president Bernd Neuendorf said in a statement. “The future partnership will enable the DFB to continue to carry out key tasks in the coming decade with regard to the comprehensive development of soccer in Germany.

“But one thing is also clear — until December 2026, we will do everything we can to achieve shared success with our long-standing and current partner Adidas, to whom German soccer has owed a lot for more than seven decades.”

Nike made by far the best economic offer and also impressed with its substantive vision. which includes a clear commitment to the promotion of amateur and grassroots sports as well as the sustainable development of women’s soccer in Germany,” DFB chief executive Holger Blask said.
