Hollywood star Viggo Mortensen believes Real Madrid “don’t need Kylian Mbappe” as Paris Saint-Germain star is set to join Los Blancos in the summer.
According to multiple reports, Kylian Mbappe has informed PSG that he will leave the club as a free agent in this summer transfer. Mbappe has long been Real Madrid’s top transfer target, and it appears that one of football’s longest transfer sagas will come to an end this summer.
Lord of Rings star Viggo Mortensen, who is a lifelong fan of Real Madrid, believes they don’t need Mbappe, and Florentino Perez only wants to sign him for his ego.
Speaking to La Provence, Mortensen said, “Real Madrid does not need Kylian Mbappé. It’s just for the ego of president Florentino Perez. Me, I think that with Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, we have what we need, it’s not necessary. He should have come to Real two years ago. It’s too late.”
Mbappe has twice been close to joining Real Madrid in 2017 and 2022 only to reject the La Liga giants each time. PSG turned down a €220m offer from Real Madrid in August 2021, and he signed a new three-year deal.
In a news conference on Friday, Mbappe said his future will be decided before the European Championship.
“I haven’t announced anything yet because I have nothing to announce. I am sorry I have nothing to tell you, I think it will all be sorted out before the Euros.”
