Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Bayer Leverkusen will win the Bundesliga this season after another defeat for his team.
Bayern Munich suffered a 2-0 home defeat to their rivals Dortmund on Saturday evening after Karim Adeyemii and Julian Ryerson scored for Edin Terzic’s side.
After Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-1 win over Hoffenheim, Bayern now is 13 points behind Bundesliga leaders with seven games to go.
When asked whether the title race was now over, Tuchel told Sky Sport Germany: “Obviously, yes.
“After today’s game there is no more need to count points. How many is it now? Congratulations to Leverkusen.
“We are very disappointed because we felt we did not bring the necessary passion to win the game. It was too little from us when it came to the basics.”
If Bayern Munich fails to win the Champions League, it will be their first trophyless season since 2012.
Tuchel also admitted he found it “difficult to explain” his team’s performance in Der Klassiker on Saturday.
“Overall, the game wasn’t played at a high level. It was an average game. Unfortunately, we adapted to that. From the lack of pace to the lack of passion. It’s hard to explain,” Tuchel told Sky Germany.
