Real Madrid have announced the signing of French superstar Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.
On Monday, Champions League and La Liga champions Real Madrid confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will join them when his Paris Saint-Germain deal expires on 30 June.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Kylian Mbappe have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons,” the European champions said in a statement.
Mbappe reportedly will sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid with an annual salary of between €15m and €20m. The 25-year-old forward will receive a €125m signing-on bonus from Real Madrid over five years of the contract.
“A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream,” Mbappe said in a post on X.
“Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!”
In 2017, the French star joined Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco in a deal worth €180 million. He won six Ligue 1 titles and became the club’s all-time top scorer with 256 goals in 308 matches.
Real Madrid tried to sign Mbappe in 2021 and 2022, but he decided to stay in Paris and signed a two-year contract extension. In May 2024, Mbappe confirmed that he would leave the French champions at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The 2018 World Cup winner is set to play for France in the Euro 2024, but he was not included in France’s 25-man preliminary squad for the Paris Olympic Games.
Real Madrid secured their 15th European Cup with a win against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley last Saturday.
